Shanghai girls

This book generated a lively discussion.  Our group enjoyed the fact that they learned a lot about China during the period before and after World War II.  Some criticism was attached to the ending but the author is apparently working on a sequel.  The book did create unforgettable characters in Pearl and Mae and the family dynamics gave us a lot of scope for discussion
